What is the Change History Tool?

The Change History Tool provides you with direct access to track changes made to campaigns. It shows who made changes, when they were made, and what was modified - helping improve transparency, troubleshoot issues, and manage settings more efficiently without relying on support teams.

Why use it?

A few reasons to use this tool are:

  • Historical Transparency: Gain clear visibility into whether changes were made by internal or external users, when they occurred, and what was modified - enhancing accountability across teams.

  • Faster Troubleshooting: Quickly identify if a change contributed to an

    issue.

  • Performance & Impact Review: Understand how past actions affected

    campaign outcomes.

  • Accountability: Maintain a record for compliance and audits. Access a clear, searchable history of past actions in your account.

  • Efficiency: Reduce operational bottlenecks and dependencies on support

    teams.

When to use it?

You can use this tool in the following cases:

  • To investigate unexpected campaign changes like budget shifts or targeting updates.

  • To troubleshoot performance issues or delivery problems.

  • To track who made changes and when, especially for audits or compliance.

  • During campaign optimization to understand the impact of specific adjustments.

Where to find it?

Commerce Yield Supply Side: You will find the Change History Tool under the Management section of the Tools tab.

Commerce Yield Demand Side: You can view the tool in the right corner as a time history icon on the Campaign Dashboard and the Line Item Dashboard.

How it works?

This tool helps you see what changes were made to the campaigns, when they happened, and who (Internal/External/System) made them.

Here’s what it does:

  • Tracks key changes: Shows updates like budget changes, targeting edits, and status updates.

  • Identifies who made the change: Tells you if an internal or external user or the system made the change.

  • Provides time stamps: Each change includes the exact date and time it occurs.

  • Displays what was modified: Shows what was changed and how it affects your campaign.

You’ll see the following columns in the log:

  • Date – When the change happened

  • Account – Which account does the change belong to

  • User Type - Internal, External, API, Automated Task (the system)

  • Scope – The level of the change (campaign, line item, inventory, etc.)

  • Action – What type of change was made

  • Item – The specific part that was changed

  • Old to New Value – What the value was before and after the change

You can also click the eye icon at the end of each log entry to view more details about that change.

Filtering

You can also refine the list of displayed actions using filters such as:

  • Date range

  • User type who performed the action

  • Action scope (e.g., account, campaign, line item)
